...Tears are not enough

A snake begins to shed his skin,
Amongst the fir and larch and pine,
As rose-hued Dawn takes off her veil,
O'er icy mountains he will climb.

In wait the elder serpent lies,
To test the stiff resolve of kings,
But whence they fail to prove their worth,
The serpent wears the Sun-God's wings.
